I am new to the whole experience with my son, but (selfishly) have had the benefit of watching my sister go through the motions of diagnosis and treatments with my nephew.

I think that its important not to focus on the label and possible repercussions of being labeled anything, its about getting help for your child anyway you can.

Education is definitely one of the best tools you can utilize in coping with many differences in life. Though I know about Asperger's, I struggle to be able to put myself in someone's perspective who suffers from it.

I know all too well what you mean, my 11 year old son has had a difficult time as a child because the doctors kept using him as a guinea pig. Misdiagnosed four times before realizing he simply had a Opositional Defiance Disorder and not Schizaphrenia.
